How to use this SERP preview tool

  1. Enter your page title, meta description, and URL.
  2. Watch the live preview update to match how Google will likely display it.
  3. Switch between Desktop and Mobile to check both, and watch for the truncation warnings.

Why do titles and descriptions get cut off?

Google truncates search snippets based on pixel width, not a strict character count, so the exact cutoff varies by device and by which characters you use (wide letters like "W" take more space than "i"). The ~60 character title and ~155 character description limits used here are reliable rules of thumb that keep you safely within the typical cutoff in most cases.

Does Google always show my meta description?

No — Google often rewrites the snippet dynamically based on the search query, especially if your meta description doesn't match what the user searched for. Writing a clear, accurate description makes it more likely Google will use it as-is.

Why does the character limit vary between tools?

Because the real limit is pixel width, not character count, different tools use slightly different approximations. This tool uses commonly cited, conservative estimates (~60 and ~155 characters) that work well for most fonts and devices.
