Why does this exist separately from OmniDeck's AI tools?
OmniDeck's other AI tools use your own API key sent directly to your chosen provider, but this tool is different on purpose: it's meant to run before you paste anything into any AI chat at all, including ChatGPT's or Gemini's own web interface, not just OmniDeck's own tools. It needs no API key and calls no model, because masking known data patterns is a task regular expressions handle perfectly well on their own.
Does this send my text to an AI to redact it?
No, this tool uses pattern matching (regular expressions) to find and mask sensitive data entirely in your browser. It never calls any AI model and never sends your text anywhere.
Will it catch every sensitive detail?
No, it catches common, structurally recognizable patterns (emails, API keys, cards, IPs, IBANs). It won't catch a sensitive detail with no fixed format, like a person's name or a confidential project codename, review the output yourself before pasting it anywhere.
